Bruno Paladin is a visual artist from Rijeka. This defines the place of his birth, life and artistic activity. But Bruno Paladin is not only Fiuman. He is an ambassador of the qualitative-quantitative level of art production in Rijeka and its surroundings. It is man who, with his pluriculture and bilingualism, unites and connects differences by bringing them to similarities. Knowing life first-hand similar to the sequences of Italian film neorealism, he lives as well as creates. Endowed with curiosity, wit, and diligence, he draws from the infinity of his energy source in constantly creating new things. He breaks down all boundaries, not being satisfied with being a painter, so in the visual arts he takes their foundations, techniques, technologies and rules, in order not to cancel or amalgamate them through experiments and in the end create new unique artistic creations. The passion for action and recognition vibrates with every gesture in a surface or space. Virile strength strengthens his fearless demeanor. Without fear or hiding from possible prejudices, he conquers the space around him. Charismatic already with his presence defines in the world, and creates, creates, creates. Unaware of complexes and doubts, he presents himself to us with numerous works since the seventies of the twentieth century, both on the local and on the world art scene. In painting, drawing, graphic arts, sculpture, applied art and all the fine arts he touches, he emerges as a great winner, crowned with a golden laurel. With the Renaissance assumption, universal action never loses its level of quality, always the same, but constantly different in everything. Paladin’s latest works feature hundreds of new compositions that combine glazed terracotta, handmade paper, ink and watercolor. Smaller and larger rectangular perspectives, with a strong, defined drawing, build a web of tonal and pastel color reflections. The exact masculine drawing contrasts with the subtle androgynous color. Soft sfumata intertwine with rock sequences, and exact sparkling lines with soft color palettes. The Venetian Rocaine tradition is confronted with the Habsburg exact, while the seemingly dynamic abstract compositions of the newly conceived figuration reveal the fullness of the figurative description. Bruno Paladin is an artist of exceptional talent, who hides the secret maps of his knowledge under the mask of a superficial harlequin, and in these works he reveals himself to us again in the fullness of strength, experience and creativity.
