Every good theater text is both a struggle and a question. This struggle between two educational systems, the old and the new, two ways of understanding relationships, personal and business, the war between education and closeness, this tense verbal-physical duel between David and Goliath in the classroom, this sharp Mamet duodrama rests on the question of interpreting nuances. In the world we live in, we deal with big cuts, sharp moves and big blocks of success and/or failure, and the genius Mamet returns and warns that the devil is in the detail. That detail makes the difference in the questions: What is affection and what is sexual harassment? What is self-defense and when does it turn into aggression? What exactly is the intellectual elite and how far can it go in its unconventionality? How much can the rules of the game be changed and adjusted? When will we pay for jumping out of the convention and how much? Tense, fast, intimate and public at the same time, all reduced to a microcosm of a professor and a student in one classroom.
